Technology does not trump face-face: a high touch approach to wellness is best
I am not saying that technology does not have its place in wellness programs. It can be the most cost effective way to obtain and distribute information to large numbers of people. However, technology alone, cannot accomplish everything; nor does it provide users with the best experience. A high-touch approach is an added expense; however, the value resides in the higher return, increased engagement and greater return on investment. In todays world it is difficult to get even your personal physician to spend more than 10 minutes with you. Employees appreciate the time that health coaches spend explaining results, designing interventions, helping with goal setting and just plain sharing information.Behavior change is hard enough, people need support and reassurance every step of the way. A well run wellness program should combine the technology for the data analysis as well as on-site programs and the personal touch of a health coach for the best results.
