Create Your Own Wellness Culture
At every location in the workplace, creating a wellness culture holds the promise of motivating employees to make them healthier, happier, and lead more productive lives. Wellness at work could best be described as the combination of educational, environmental and organizational activities and programs designed to motivate and support healthy lifestyles among a company's employees and families. Employees with multiple risk factors for disease (like high blood pressure and high cholesterol) are more likely to be high cost employees in terms of health care, absenteeism, disability, and overall productivity (Health management Research Center 2000). On the other hand, healthy employees are likely to incur lower medical costs and be more productive. November is the time when many companies hold benefits fairs for their employees. Why not create a wellness component to your health fair?
