Healthcare Costs: Front and Center for Americans

Healthcare costs are a primary issue for most Americans and most businesses, yet none of the candidates have addressed the true issues. Even though individuals cite the economy as their number one concern, healthcare costs are the biggest economic issue they face. I just read an article in Human Resource Executive that discusses this very issue: It's the health costs, stupid!

One way for businesses to reduce their healthcare costs is to implement wellness programs for their employees. Our government can encourage businesses and make it easier by creating tax incentives for businesses, especially small businesses to implement wellness programs. Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) authored the Healthy Workforce Act which focuses on prevention as a solutions to rising healthcare costs. Makes a lot of sense from where I am sitting.
