Big Pharma Supports Corporate Wellness

Fascinating news item in the Triangle Business Journal today: Drug maker AstraZeneca has donated $1.5 million to establish a healthy lifestyle program for workers of the North Carolina Department of Transportation.

It's common for drug companies to support local plans to provide drugs for the needy. Or disease screening or management programs.

But the donation to the NC DOT is targeted at raising physical activity, cutting stress and quitting smoking. Many companies and agencies could certainly use that kind of generous support of wellness programs.

The non-profit North Carolina Prevention Partners also upports the workplace wellness program.
