Good and Green: Workplace Wellness & Satisfaction

Great employers pay lots of attention to their employees, are socially responsible, and forward thinking.

Not coincidentally, many of their best practices are exactly what employees want from their employers. The majority of companies who are frequently listed as best places to work offer wellness programs, telework opportunities, socially responsible programs, and environmentally friendly policies.

These companies are not only helping their employees stay healthy, they are also helping to save our planet. A great study came out that suggests that teleworking can cut our dependence on foreign oil in half. The study was conducted by researchers Kate Lister and Tom Harnish and reported on their blog, Undress4Success.

One of the provocative nuggets of information from the study: ". . telework could reduce Gulf oil imports by 24 to 48%, reduce greenhouse gases by up to 67 million metric tons a year, and save as much as 7.5 trillion gallons of gasoline each year—a savings $110 million a day."
