Wal-Mart Health Insurance Update

Last year, Wal-Mart gave in to public pressure and expanded its health insurance offerings to employees.

The company now says that over 600,000 workers are covered by one of 50 (!) plans offered. Some are high-deductible healthcare plans (HDHPs) with premiums as low as $5 per month.

National Public Radio broadcast an update on the program. You can listen to the update on Wal-Mart's health insurance programs here. The webpage also includes links to previous stories about the controversy.

And in January the California Healthline newsletter published a roundup of news and analysis on Wal-Mart's healthcare policies.
