Cost of No Wellness Program: $160 million/year?
Looking for a great e-mail to forward to your HR department or executives that will demonstrate the cost of not having a wellness program?
Okay, it's not exactly a scientific paper on cost savings. Still, it's worth a look.
Check out this great item about KCBS. (Emphasis mine.)
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) -- A San Francisco Supervisor said Tuesday the lack of a comprehensive wellness program is causing high numbers of sick-outs.
Supervisor Sean Elsbernd requested the sick leave audit which found Monday that sick leave for city workers costs taxpayers $160 million last year.
Elsbernd says a comprehensive wellness program would have stopped workers from getting sick. He wants a system that guarantees all city workers equal access to healthy lifestyle programs.
He would also like to see lower health premium for workers who meet healthy lifestyle goals such as losing weight and quitting smoking.
