Congress Reintroduces Healthy Workforce Act

If you follow us on Twitter, you already know that a bipartisan group of senators and representatives has introduced legislation that will promote workplace wellness. We've always believed that true health care reform must include prevention, and this legislation is a wonderful first step. We hope it passes.

The Healthy Workforce Act will provide tax credits to businesses that institute wellness programs including "health risk assessments, health awareness and behavior change programs, meaningful incentives for program participation, and an employee committee that tailors programs to meet workforce needs."

We're delighted to see that Congress appreciates the success of workplace wellness programs. Kudos to Senators Harkin and Cornyn, and Representatives Blumenauer and Bono-Mack, for their efforts in this area.
