One of our clients is wrapping up their second year of comprehensive wellness programming, and they've made amazing progress. This group is a lot of fun to work with, and we can't wait to help them plan for next year.
In the past 12 months, their employees have made improvements in just about every biometric category: total cholesterol, HDL, blood pressure, body mass index, body fat percentage, and waist circumference. According to the company's latest health risk assessment, employees' nutritional and exercise habits have improved, and their overall life satisfaction scores are higher than last year's.
How did they do it? One step at a time! After organizing a health fair with biometric screenings, health risk assessments, and flu shots, we designed a slate of wellness activities tailored to employees' interests. Among many other things, this year's program included:
- An 8-week fitness challenge
- Occasional on-site chair massage days, for stress reduction
- Health education seminars
- On-site fitness classes
The fun fitness classes were such a hit that employees were motivated to train for a 5K--an event they're planning to repeat this year.
