Reduce sick leave. Employees who engage in workplace wellness programs such as weight loss challenges, nutrition seminars, or biometric screenings are more likely to take their health seriously. Additionally, onsite flu shots and massage clinics can both reduce seasonal illnesses and lower levels of stress in the workplace. Making health a priority inevitably leads to fewer sick days, decreased presenteeism, and increased productivity.
Improve employee morale. Offering benefits like subsidized gym memberships, cholesterol testing, and onsite fitness classes makes employees happier and more loyal. When budgets are tight and many employees feel as if the lack of available job opportunities is the only thing keeping them in their current position, wellness programs are a great way to show employees that the company values their service.
Educate, Engage, and Empower. Wellness programs often serve as a tool to educate employees about healthier habits. For those who already have a strong foundation of health, wellness activities can empower employees to engage with a program and incorporate additional healthy behaviors into their work lives. Onsite wellness services lead to employees who are healthier, happier, and empowered to continue making healthy choices on a regular basis.
Everybody’s doing it. Google does it. Marriott does it. Discovery does it. These industry leaders are making employee wellness a priority and you should too. When it comes to employee well-being, now is not the time to buck the trend. Wellness is the future. Individuals benefit, employers benefit, and the advantages don’t stop there. Nationally – healthier individuals put less strain on the health care system, cause less environmental distress, and set the country up for a more successful future.
